Vote for Books
Mrs. Raymond is having a special vote to determine what the favorite book is for CPS fourth and fifth graders. She has explained to them that it should be a book that is very important to them in their reading life, whether it is a book that really spoke to them or the book that turned them into a reader. We will first nominate favorite books using the Wall Wisher link provided below, then Mrs. Raymond will determine the top nominees and create a ballot for November 6. On that day, students will actually vote for their favorite out of the top nominees, and a winner will be declared!

Reading Buddies
Last week we met for the second time with our kindergarten reading buddies from Ms. Cote's class. They enjoyed coming to our classroom in "the big kids' hallway". We read "The Best Class Picture Ever" together, since it was school picture day. They thought it was fun to look for Elvis, the missing guinea pig on each page. Then we went outside and played on their playground together. What a great way to get to know one another!

Spring Fling
This week was so much fun thanks to the Spring Fling Days! Our class was thrilled to hear that we won the door decorating contest for the upper grades, due in large part to the fine Spring Haiku that they wrote! We will also be entering these short and sweet spring poems into a Scholastic poetry contest. Hopefully they will be the winning entry in that contest as well!

Cereal Box Book Reports
I was so pleased to see all of the creative and original ideas that the students had for their cereal box book reports. We all loved hearing their fun and interesting commercials and looking at their boxes. What a unique way to share a book with one another! Below I have linked some photos and commercials for you to enjoy.

Here is the link to the Alexandria Online Card Catalog. This will help you to search for books by title, author, genre, or subject. If it is in the CPS library, you will find it here!
